Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 9th two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference-2026 in New Delhi. The hybrid conference, with over 850 attendees, focuses on key security challenges like terrorism, cyber-crime and narcotics.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Co-operation Amit Shah inaugurated the 9th two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference-2026 in New Delhi on Monday, as per the release.

Prior to the inauguration, the Union Home Minister paid homage at the Martyrs' column by laying a wreath in remembrance of the brave personnel of the Intelligence Bureau who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to safeguard national security and integrity.

The conference, held in hybrid format, was attended by over 850 participants from across the country. Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Union Home Secretary, Deputy NSAs, and Heads of CAPFs/CPOs attended the conference in Delhi. DGsP of States and UTs, young police officers working at the cutting-edge level and domain experts from specialised fields joined the conference through virtual mode, the release said.

Day 1 Discussions on National Security

On the first day of the Conference, discussions focused on critical aspects of national security, including response to counter-terrorism challenges, fusion, analysis and operationalisation of intelligence through the Multi Agency Centre (MAC), vision document on narcotics control, detection & deportation of illegal migrants, a policy framework to combat cyber-crime and proxy warfare by Pakistan.

Focus on Terrorism and Radicalisation

For effective tackling of terrorism & radicalisation, the Union Home Minister emphasised training for implementation of MHA's PRAHAAR scheme, expediting trials by bringing back fugitives & using trial in absentia provisions and undertaking a comprehensive and integrated approach while investigating UAPA cases.

Directives on Technology and Border Security

The Home Minister directed that an AI-based analysis of information available on MAC platforms should be done to create SOPs to counter various national security challenges. Union Home Minister directed all the agencies to take strict measures against infiltration.

Agenda for Day 2

The second day of the Conference will focus on the threat landscape from sub-aerial systems and formulating countermeasures, securing the blue economy, information warfare and its implications on national security and the need for a bio-security framework.

About the NSSC Conference

In pursuance of the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NSSC has been held every year in a hybrid format since 2021, with the objective of finding solutions to major National Security Challenges using the extensive experience of cutting-edge level officers working at the grassroots level in collaboration with domain experts.
