16-year-old rape victim bleeds for four days, dies after being denied medical help

Follow16-year-old school girl and a rape victim in Punjab bled for four days till she breathed her last. She was allegedly denied any medical aid as her parents denied her medical help. According to a report by the New Indian Express, the incident happened in the Jalalabad town of Fazilka district in Punjab.
According to the district police, "The police registered a case only on Sunday as the girl’s family hadn’t informed us about the incident earlier. They kept it under wrap fearing social stigma and initially did not take her to a hospital fearing the same. However, when they finally did, it was too late."
The girl was reportedly unconscious for three days and was only able to recount her ordeal on the day she died. On October 25, when she was returning home from school, she was allegedly abducted by two motorcycle-borne men from near a petrol pump. They took her to the nearby fields, raped her and left her unconscious and bleeding. When she did not return home on time, her parents started looking for her and found her unconscious in the fields.
According to sources, the mother of the girl reported to the police that one of the accused was her classmate. The police registered a case of gangrape and murder on the complaint of the girl's father who works in the grain market in Jalalabad.
"We have registered a case under sections 376-D and 302 of IPC against one Major Ram and two other unidentified youngsters," said police.
