Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu to be awarded ₹30 lakh cash prize by Andhra government

Meanwhile, recognising her feat, the Andhra government has decided to award her a cash prize of ₹30 lakh. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came up with the announcement on Monday night as a part of the state's sports policy, reports IANS.
As per the policy, the gold medalist gets an award of ₹75 lakh, while the silver medalist gets ₹50 lakh, followed by ₹30 lakh for bronze. Earlier, Reddy had handed a cash incentive of ₹5 lakh each to Sindhu, R Satwiksairaj and hockey player Rajani Etimarpu ahead of their Tokyo stint.
Also, Reddy had announced that a two-acre land in Visakhapatnam would be given to Sindhu to set up a badminton academy. Sindhu also holds the government job of a deputy collector, given to her following her Rio silver by then Andhra CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
However, Sindhu's ₹30 lakh cash prize this time is confusing compared to the last time when she had received ₹3 crore from the Andhra government, while the Telangana government had given her an incentive of ₹5 crore.
