The celebrations continue in India following India's splendid outing at the just-concluded Tokyo Olympics, where it won seven medals, including a gold. Meanwhile, as a part of the celebration, Rana Sodhi (Sports and Youth Services Minister of Punjab), has said that the Punjab government would be organising a particular function in Chandigarh on Thursday to honour the players from Punjab with a cash award of ₹32.67 crore.

In a release, it was confirmed by Sodhi that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh will honour the Olympians, with Governer VP Singh Badnaur being the special guest of honour. Also, the cash prize for the medal winners has been increased to help to promote sports further in the state, meaning gold medalist javelin thrower would be earning ₹2.51 crore instead of previously announced ₹2 crore.
