Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese football legend who is considered the modern-day great. He currently plays for Juventus in the Serie A competition and is doing relatively well in the domestic circuit, while he has also won some individual accolades.
Portuguese football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo continues to scale new heights while showing no signs of slowing down yet. At the age of 36, Ronaldo continues to dominate with each passing game and script countless records to his name.
Recently, he has bagged another accolade for himself, as he has been awarded the Serie A Player of the Year award. It was his second title, having won it last year as well.
Although Ronaldo did not finish as the top goal-scorer last season, he finished second, besides being the top for Juventus, scoring 31 goals in 33 games, besides winning twin domestic titles. Nonetheless, the Portuguese expressed his delight at the recognition.
“At the beginning, it was hard to play in empty stadiums, but the aim was to win, and we did it. I am happy and lucky. Persistence, confidence, work ethic, passion - those are all the secrets that allow me to keep playing. I feel motivated and you have to be every year; otherwise, you won’t manage to win at 34, 35, 36 or 40 years old,” said Ronaldo, reports AP.
Among the other award winners are:
Female Player of the Year: Cristiana Girelli (Juventus)
Coach of the Year: Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta)
Team of the Year: Atalanta (Serie A- 3rd; UEFA Champions League- Quarters)
