Chhatrasal Stadium murder case: Sushil Kumar denied anticipatory bail by Delhi court
Sushil Kumar is an Indian wrestler who had represented India at the Olympics and is a multiple gold medallist, besides having won medals of all colours. The multiple-time national champion has been involved in the murder case of a recent junior wrestler.
Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar seems to have no relief in sight in the ongoing Chhatrasal Stadium murder case on May 4 that saw a junior wrestler, Sagar Rana, killed by a group of unknown wrestlers. While Sushil was one of the prime accused of the incident, he has been absconding ever since and had applied for anticipatory bail in Delhi Court.
However, the court ruled out any such relief to Sushil. He had stated in his plea that the allegations against him are baseless and were pre-planned, which were being done to hurt his reputations.
Sushil also admitted in his plea to help the investigating team to reach a logical conclusion. "It appears that the statement of the victims has already been recorded and alleged recoveries have already been made. No custodial investigation is required as nothing is to be recovered at the instance of the applicant," Sushil'splea further read, besides admitting that he had no role in the firing and the guns found in the vehicles did not belong to him, reports PTI.
In the meantime, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava stated to the court that there was electronic evidence of Sushil's involvement in the case, where he is seen hitting the deceased wrestler with a stick. Meanwhile, Sushil's passport has been impounded to stop the attempt to flee from India.
"He (Sushil) is the main accused in the whole incident, who has played a key role in the commission of offence. Data retrieved by FSL experts confirm his active role in commission of crime," said Inspector Dinesh Kumar, Investigating officer.
Also, Sushil's advocate Sidharth Luthra told the court that one of the guys named Sonu, present during the brawl, was a member of a criminal gang and had a lot of criminal cases against him. "These people, who I am up against, are criminal-minded people and I will suffer at their hands," said Luthra.
