All England World Championships 2021: PV Sindhu rallies into semis
PV Sindhu is currently the top female shuttler from India. She is presently ranked seventh in the BWF Singles Rankings, while her highest rank to date happens to be second in 2017. She has won numerous medals, including five gold medals and an Olympic silver.
Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu continued her dominant run in the 2021 All England World Championships. The defending champion sailed into the semis following a thrilling win over Akane Yamaguchi of Japan (16-21, 21-16, 21-19) in the quarters.
Meanwhile, she would take on Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong. It would also be Sindhu's second appearance in the semis of the prestigious badminton tournament currently being held in Birmingham.
"I am playing against her after quite a long time, I think 2019. We haven't played at all. I'm sure she would have trained very hard. Today's match was a good, tough long match, I would say," said Sindhu after the game, reports PTI.
"I really fought hard to come here. It's important to be focused and go back and rest myself to come back stronger. Pornpawee has been playing really well, so I'm sure I have to be very well prepared and give it 100 per cent," she added.
As for Chochuwong, she is currently ranked 11th and is the sixth seed in the tournament. She has won many medals as well, including twin golds in the Southeast Asian Games, while she is yet to feature in the Olympics.
