West Bengal: Garment shop offers special discount for COVID warriors during Durga puja
The number of COVID cases is increasing in Kolkata. Amid such difficult situations, a textile shop in the city has arranged special discounts for COVID warriors. Doctors, nurses, health workers, police, and even journalists are entitled to get discounts. Just a few more days are left for Durga puja. Everyone in the city is busy shopping for puja. However, an innovative initiative is taken by a textile shop in Raiganj town of North Dinajpur to provide special discounts to COVID warriors for Durga puja shopping.
West Bengal is fearing a tsunami of Covid-19 infection after the Durga Puja festival. Everyday the number of cases is increasing. The controversy over Durga puja this year is in full swing in Bengal due to fear of COVID-19.
A PIL has been filed before the Calcutta High Court seeking that permission for holding of community Durga Puja in West Bengal not be granted for this year in order to prevent a surge in coronavirus cases following the festival. The government has been severely reprimanded in the hearing of the case.
However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has allowed to celebrate Durga puja this year. She is even inaugurating the puja by visiting several mandapas in Kolkata. The chief minister has also virtually inaugurated many pujas in different districts.
Amid all these celebrations, doctors, nurses and health workers are fighting against COVID at the risk of their lives. Policemen and journalists are not being left out either.
A famous textile shop in Raiganj city has taken a fancy initiative to honor the COVID warriors. If any buyer who comes in the shop is a COVID warrior, it has been decided to give 10 to 15 percent discount on the purchase. Everyone has applauded this fancy initiative.
