Suvendu Adhikari’s office in East Midnapore ransacked; party blames TMC
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's office in the Nandigram area was vandalised by alleged TMC workers on Saturday (January 9) night. However, the TMC refuted the charges, claiming it to be a result of the BJP’s internal conflict.
The BJP has demanded the arrest of persons behind the incident. BJP leader Kaniska Panda said, “We protest against an incident caused by TMC workers in Nandigram. We told the administration if they won't take necessary steps then the administration will be responsible for the incidents which will happen in the future.”
However, TMC East Midnapore district vice president SK Sufian said that the "old" BJP workers are responsible for the incident.
Suvendu Adhikari joined the BJP on December 19 in presence of Union home minister Amit Shah. He was a former TMC leader and had won from Nandigram constituency.
On Friday (January 8), Suvendu Adhikari held a roadshow in Nandigram. The TMC had alleged that BJP workers tore TMC posters. On Saturday, TMC held a counter-rally in Nandigram.
According to the allegations, some TMC workers from the rally led the attack on Adhikari's assistance booth.
