The extended route of Kolkata Metro to Dakshineswar will start service in January next year. Many people will be benefited when the service will start.
A senior official of the Kolkata Metro Rail said on Thursday (October 29), “We initially planned to start the metro service after Durga Puja. But all the work could not be completed on time due to lockdown and other occasions. In the current situation, it is not possible to start the service of the expanded route before January.”
According to Metro Rail sources, the signaling system and the work on the sliding door of the metro have not been completed yet. It will take some more time to complete all these works.
However, the metro authorities are hopeful that by the beginning of the new year, the people of Kolkata, especially the people of North Kolkata and the northern suburbs, will be able to avail the extended metro services.
The launch of this service will not only benefit the people of North Kolkata or North 24 Parganas, it will benefit a large number of passengers from Hooghly and Howrah districts.
As soon as one will cross the Bali Bridge from Dakshineswar, they will find Howrah-Burdwan Main Line, Howrah- Burdwan Cord Line and Howrah-Tarakeswar Line.
