First transgender journalist ties the knot on Republic Day in Kerala

This is the fourth transgender marriage under the Special Marriage Act in Kerala. And this marriage took place as India celebrates its 71st Republic Day.

Transgender couple Heidi Saadia and Atharv Mohan tied the knot on January 26 in Kerala's Ernakulam.

Heidi Saadia works as a journalist in Kerala's renowned news channel, and Atharv Mohan works as an accountant in a private company in Trivandrum.

The wedding was jointly organised by Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust and Ernakulam Karayogam.

Heidi Saadia is the foster daughter of transgender makeup artist Renju Ranji. Atharv, son of Mohan and Lalitha, is the adoptive son of transgender couple Ishan K Shan and Surya.

This is the fourth transgender marriage under the Special Marriage Act in Kerala.
