Why Aamir Khan divorced Kiran Rao? What ended their 15-year marriage; reason is out

A week ago, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their separation in a joint statement. As per the joint statement, Aamir and Kiran decided to be co-parents and family for each other.

The statement reads, "In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy, and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives — no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other."

Later a video was shared in which Aamir, Kiran said their fans that they would stay forever as a family, as this has come as a piece of shocking news to many. However, numerous stories have recommended that the two remain cordial than ever before and nothing would turn sour.

A report published in Free Press Journal report suggested that Aamir and Kiran separated emotionally in 2019. The article quotes a Bollywood insider saying that both marriage and divorce are extreme steps for Aamir. The report also mentioned that the rumours of Aamir Khan and marrying Fatima Sana Shaikh is also incorrect.

The report quotes an insider saying, "The reason why he and Kiran decided to separate is simple over the years. Apparently, both of them outgrew the foundation of marriage. There were no differences or issues as such. You remain as a friend. While your values and beliefs may remain the same, your needs, views on life, wants, and opinions change with time, including your outlook on love and marriage."

It moreover says, "And then, at that phase in one's life, it is better to live apart in harmony than stay together with malice in a marriage that has lived its times. While both said to have emotionally separated in 2019, they decided to have an actual trial period of separation after that for a couple of years."

Before Kiran, he was married to Reena Dutta. They were together for 16 years and later got divorced in 2002. On December 28, 2005, Kiran and Aamir got married. Later in 2011, they became parents to boy Azad Rao Khan via surrogacy.
