Many Bollywood celebrities opened about struggling with mental illness or depression. Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan suffered from depression after his shoulder surgery in 2010. The actor said, "Because of shoulder surgery in 2010, I had got into depression mode but now I am out of it. I feel happy and boosted with energy. I feel much healthy and refresh from within."
Deepika Padukone boldly spoke about suffering from depression and anxiety. She not only opened up about it in a TV interview but also established a center for mental health to help people combat mental issues.
"I thought it was stress hence I tried distracting myself by focusing on work and surrounding myself with people, which helped for a while but the nagging feeling did not go away. My breath was shallow. I suffered from lack of concentration and I broke down often," she had said. Deepika took the help of the professionals to get out of depression. She has been the flag bearer of speaking about it openly.
Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan also has a story of depression to tell. The actor turned producer in 1996 with his company ABCL. After back-to-back flops and failure Amitabh went bankrupt and entered a phase of depression. The actor took a good turn in his career and revived himself.
The actress opened up about her illness and spoke bravely about it, "I have anxiety. And I am treating it. I am on medication for my anxiety. Why I am saying this because its a completely normal thing. It is a biological problem. There have been cases of depression in my family. More and more people should talk about it openly. If you had stomach pain, wouldn't you go to the doctor? it is that simple. I want to make this my mission, to take any shame out of this, to educate people about this
