Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel is in legal trouble. The Gadar: Ek Prem Katha actress has been accused of check bounce fraud worth Rs 2.5 crores.
According to reports, the petition filed against Ameesha was heard in the Jharkhand High Court by Judge Anand Sen through video conferencing. As per the petition, the complainant, Ajay Kumar Singh, claimed that he met Ameesha during an event in Harmu Housing Colony in 2017 and got an offer to invest in films.
He said that Ameesha allegedly got him to invest in her film Desi Magic for which he gave Rs. 2.5 crores in the actress's bank account.
Ajay Kumar Singh said that the actress did not proceed with the film as was agreed and did not pay back the money.
Ajay claimed that when he asked for his money because Desi Magic was shelved, he was given a cheque on Ameesha's behalf, which bounced in the bank.
Ajay claimed that he was 'cheated' by the actress and demanded his money back.
During the hearing, the court heard both the parties' statements and asked them to provide a written clarification in the next two weeks.
