Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra love story: What went wrong between the two, why they parted ways

In a popular chat show, Sidharth Malhotra had opened up about Alia Bhatt and his relationship with her

Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra were first seen in Karan Johar's Student of the Year, and since then rumours of their affair were all over the place. Many fans wanted them to become a real couple after seeing their chemistry in the film.

But, it was many years after Student of the Year was released that Sidharth and Alia fell for each other and were seen painting the city red.

The two not just willingly spoke about their relationship but even appeared madly in love. From photoshoots to vacations, both were enjoying each other's company. Yet, as destiny would have it, before they could make it official, Alia and Sid parted ways.

On the popular show, Koffee with Karan, Sidharth talked about his relationship with Alia after the split. He said, "I don't think it's bitter. We haven't really met after that, to be honest. And it's civil. It's been a while and it happens... just like any other relationship. I have known her for much longer."

"I did know her much before, even before we were dating. So, it's not like we met as a particular boyfriend-girlfriend thing. I think it'll remain. It's just a matter of us coming back. There is a reason why two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs. When you take yourself from a situation, you look at all the happy and good memories," he added.

The reason behind their break-up: According to a report in Filmibeat, Sidharth was not ready for commitment and wanted to focus on his career. Both Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra started their careers with the same movie, but all her films like Highway, 2 States, and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania were blockbusters.

On the other hand, Sidharth's career graph started dropping with films like A Gentleman, Baar Baar Dekho, Ittefaq, Aiyaary, which didn’t do well at the box office.
