Chennai Super Kings (CSK) conceded an easy win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and won by 10 wickets. Match 17 of the season was held at the Dubai International Stadium.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have now guised up in their real essence. After a major setback in three consecutive matches, they won by a massive margin, against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The CSK openers did the task and won by 10 wickets.
Let's just look at some of the talking points.
KL Rahul knock
Rahul has been consistent for KXIP, but the team collectively is lacking some spirit, as they are unable to defend high-scoring targets that they put on the board. On Friday, he, along with Mayank Agarwal, ensured a good start. Rahul alone hammered 63 off 52 balls.
Nicholas Pooran surprises
Firstly, he impressed the fans and franchisee by his massive hitting, where he struck three huge sixes and a four, with a strike-rate of nearly 195. Second, he was seen as a wicketkeeper, while Rahul contributed his part by fielding.
Dubai International astonished as a venue
Ever since the commencement of IPL, Dubai International Stadium has witnessed some low scores, compared to other venues. Despite the same slow pitch and elongated boundaries, a surprise element emerged on Sunday. The match witnessed scores around 180, unlike the previous ones, which hovered at 160.
Sensational Shane and Ferocious Faf
And, that’s what legends bring back! The trust that CSK and the franchise embodied in Shane Watson was purely paid back. With a couple of flukes in the initial four games, Watson, along with Faf du Plessis, stole the show. Together, they single-handedly led CSK to the victory. The partnership saw 181 runs in 17.4 overs, as the duo registered ample records for themselves.
Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja bowling
The pacer was quite economical with the ball and had an economy of just 5.7. Ravindra Jadeja, too, was economical (7.50) and scalped a wicket.
