Jasprit Bumrah is rated as the best bowler in the world, across formats, while he is currently the number one bowler in the One-Day Internationals. He has also been an integral part of Mumbai Indians success in the Indian Premier League, having won five titles with them.
As far as India's pace attack is concerned during the modern times, it is undoubtedly one of the lethal ones. And, what makes it even deadly is the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, who happens to be the world's best pacer today, besides being the number one bowler in the One-Day Internationals (ODI).
Although he is yet to win a global title with India, he has been a part of their numerous success, besides doing the same for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning fives titles for them. Meanwhile, he is celebrating his 27th birthday on Sunday, as we take a look at some of his records.
Second fastest to 100 ODI wickets: Bumrah is one of the modern-day Indian bowlers to script a remarkable record, as he is the second fastest to 100 wickets in the ODIs, having done so 57 matches. The record for the same is held by his teammate, Mohammed Shami, who did so in 56 games.
First Asian to rock overseas in a year: Bumrah scripted yet another impressive record some time back, as he claimed five wickets during a Test innings in South Africa, England and Australia during the same year. Thus, he became the first Asian to attain this extraordinary feat.
A unique record since debut: Bumrah managed to claim 48 Test wickets in the first year since his debut. As a result, he has the record of claiming the most wickets during the same, going past the previous best record of 40, by Dilip Doshi, while overall, Bumrah is the third.
Most maidens in T20Is: In another impressive record held by Bumrah, he has bowled the most maiden in T20Is. To date, he has bowled seven maidens in the format, the most by any bowler so far. He broke the previous record, held by Nuwan Kulasekara of Sri Lanka.
Most wickets by an Indian in an IPL: It was during the recent season of the IPL Bumrah finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, behind South Africa's Kagiso Rabada. Bumrah claimed 27 wickets, as he became the highest wicket-taking Indian in a season, going past Bhuvneshwar Kumar's 26 in 2018.
