Udta Punjab: Censor board member behind film leak

A furore has been ongoing ever since the leaking of a censor copy of Udta Punjab. The leak took special significance as it came after a bitter battle between the Censor board and the filmmakers.

A case has been booked under the Copyright and Information Technology Act about the leaking of the movie.

Though the name of the culprit has not been revealed, it is confirmed that a member of the censor board is responsible for leaking the movie.

Meanwhile, a petition challenging the release of Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab was Haryana High Court has rejected. Earlier, the Supreme Court also had rejected the plea on bringing a stay on the movie.

The movie Udta Punjab is slated for release tomorrow.

As the movie was given more than 80 cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification, its chief Pahlaj Nihlani and his team have been accused of trying to damage the movie for political reasons.

Refusing to budge to the wishes of the CBFC on the cuts, one of the producers of the movie, Anurag Kashyap, had filed a case with the Bombay High Court, which ordered the release of the movie with just one cut.
