The actor posted his 'stoner face' selfie on Instagram, and the photo appears so convincing about the physical ill-effects of drug usage that we feel it can be used in an anti-drugs campaign.

Even if only through make-up, showing how drugs can make even the prettiest person into an ugly mess is a great way of convincing youngsters not to try narcotics.

It is a better method than banning the film, in any case (Censor board, are you listening?).

Shahid's hyper-real look goes completely with his character in the film where he plays a dopehead.

The movie's trailer shows that the Haidar actor has done a tremendous job as a doped-up rockstar. He has gone quite far to appear lean and stoned.

Director Abhishek Chaubey has revealed that Shahid got so involved with the character of rapper Tommy Singh that the actor ended up acquiring some rapping skills.

He also has rapped in both his tracks from the film — “Chitta Ve” and the title song “Ud-Daa Punjab” – which was released today.

The music has been composed by Amit Trivedi and voices Vishal Dadlani. We already know that Shahid plays a rockstar with a drug addiction in the movie, so far we only saw his ecstatic state in the trailer as well as songs.

Udta Punjab is about the growing drug abuse in Punjab.

The movie starring Kareena Kapoor-Khan, Alia Bhatt and singer Diljit Dosanjh is expected to arrive in theatres on June 17.
