A Jodhpur court today sentenced Bollywood star Salman Khan to five years in jail for killing two blackbucks in October 1998 but acquitted his colleagues Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre giving them the benefit of doubt, a prosecution lawyer said.
Preparations for sending Salman to the Jodhpur Central jail are in place, Mahipal Bishnoi, the prosecution counsel, told reporters.
Salman walked into the Jodhpur Central Jail today after being sentenced to five years in prison. Salman had spent five nights in the same jail in 2006.
According to the local media, the prosecution had asked the court for a tough punishment, saying he was a repeat offender.
According to reports, he will be in Barrack no.2, where Asaram Bapu has been lodged. Heavy security has been deployed at Barrack no 2 as one of the inmate in the Jodhpur Central jail, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has allegedly threatened Salman.
Asaram Bapu, who was a so-called a spiritual leader, has been in the jail for over five years after being arrested for raping a schoolgirl in his ashram in 2013.
The Bishnois have been fighting for action against the star for nearly 20 years. Salman's net worth in 2017 alone was Rs 1,480 crore. The superstar, according to recent reports, earns Rs 65.47 lakh per day. According to reports, Rs 1,000 crore rides on him in Bollywood.
