"Sachin: A Billion Dreams", a biographical film on cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, has been declared tax-free in Kerala and Chhattisgarh.

A decision to this effect was taken by the cabinet of each state, in compliance with government policies. Produced by Ravi Bhagchandka under the banner of 200NotOut, 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' is directed by British filmmaker James Erskine.

"We are very pleased that 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' is tax-free in the states of Kerala and Chhattisgarh... Thanks to the tax-exemption in these states, many more people will be able to watch the inspiring story of Sachin Tendulkar and learn from/about how he overcame the darker, more testing phases of his life," Bhagchandka said in a statement here.

The trailer of the film was launched on April 13 in a packed Juhu auditorium applauding its first screening.

Erskine, award-winning director of a number of international films on sports, took the audience through the making of the film. He said:"Scripting his journey for the big screen involved interacting with Sachin, his family, his teammates as well as players from rival teams and others.

Sachin is both gracious, and a perfectionist, and being able to make this film for the Indian people and many more across the globe was a true honour. "This film has helped me relive the important moments of my life through its making! I remained a private person but realised that there is much I have not revealed or spoken about, to those who have been instrumental to my life and career, especially my fans," Tendulkar told the media persons.

Music scored by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. Sachin: A Billion Dreams will release in Hindi, Marathi, English, Tamil and Telugu and is set to hit screens on May 26. But clearly, that date can't come fast enough for Sachin fans.
