FollowFamous director Priyadarshan's daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan might be making her acting debut opposite famous actor Nagarjuna's younger son Akhil. The actor will star in Vikram Kumar's next Telugu movie.
Kalyani’s movie debut coincides with the entry of Pranav Mohanlal to the film field. It is a real coincidence that the children of two close friends - Priyadarshan and Mohanlal - are launching their film careers at the same time.
After finishing her higher studies from New York, Kalyani worked as an assistant director on the Nayanthara and Vikram starrer Irumugan. It was believed that Kalyani would follow in her father's footsteps and become a director or techinican. However, rumours now say that she plans to follow her mother Lissy, and become an actress.
A source close to Kalyani spoke to the Hindustan Times, saying - “She has already been approached, but she is yet to sign on the dotted line. This project looks exciting as it will mark her debut with a leading star’s son and she is seriously contemplating accepting the offer."
In an interview with the Times of India, director Vikram says his upcoming film will be an action romance. "We have already started shooting the action scenes and that Kalyani is expected to join the sets in about 10 days."
Meanwhile, the doting mother Lissy says she's all in support of her daughter's career move. Lissy added, "After Kalyani had got back from her studies in New York, she said she would like to take up acting, and she's now determined to make it work."
Director Vikram Kumar has previously delivered the blockbuster Manam starring the Akkineni star clan - which featured actors across several generations from the family. According to reports, Nagarjuna is said to be personally overseeing the upcoming project as he doesn’t want another disaster in the making.
