The Narcotics Control Bureau has reportedly issued summons to filmmaker Karan Johar for questioning in the Bollywood drug nexus case.

Television reports said Karan Johar has to respond to the notice by December 18.

Reports also suggested that the filmmaker had been asked to produce documentary and electronic evidence with regard to the July 2019 video that was circulated by Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa in September along with his complaint.

The party was attended by Bollywood stars, including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji, among others.

Karan Johar's past clarification

Johar has in the past issued a public statement about the video.

He had called the reports of drug consumption at his party "slanderous" and "malicious".

"These slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule," Johar had said.

"I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance," he added.
