How Oppam helped Priyadarshan get over Lissy

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan is on cloud nine thanks to his Mollywood movie Oppam, which has Mohanlal in the lead. The movie has made a total gross collection of ₹30.4 crore within the first 23 days of its release.  

During an interview with a Malayalam magazine, Priyadarshan shared his emotions on the film, which came at a crucial personal juncture for the director. In the interview, the director stated that once, in court, his former wife Lissy had proclaimed that his 'good times' were finished. 

Lissy's statements had profoundly impacted and hurt him. However, he was not in a position to react at the time, so he decided to be calm and move forward with his life.

His best friend and superstar Mohanlal, insisted that he work on the project. At first, Priyadarshan refused to accept the offer, but Mohanlal forced him to direct the movie and made Priyadarshan work on the screenplay as well.

As it turns out, the movie has given the director a second wing in life.  

Presently, Oppam has broken many records, beating Nivin Pauly's romantic movie Premam, and is on its way to exceed the Kerala collections of Drishyam. The movie has already emerged as the highest grosser of 2016.
