KGF makers trolled for choosing non-Kannadiga Prabhas for pan-Indian film Salaar

As soon as the makers of KGF Vijaykiragandur and director Prashanth Neel revealed their next big venture 'Salaar' with Baahubali star Prabhas, the fans back home in Karnataka were left disheartened as they expected a Kannadiga to be the lead of a pan-Indian film. Now many have started trolling the makers calling them backstabbers.

With makers of brand film KGF that put the Kannada industry once again on top leaving behind Bollywood projects in 2018, fans were excited with the announcement made by Hombale Films about another pan-Indian cinema. However, soon after the first look of Salaar featuring Prabhas was revealed, many Kannada trolls are targeting the makers.

Producer Vijaykiragandur and director Prashanth Neel have chosen Prabhas for their action flick and the poster with Prabhas with an angry look and a gun may have left fans spellbound in the Telugu section, but back home in Karnataka, the Kannadigas are abusing it for leaving out Kannada stars.

Prashanth took to Twitter to make the announcement hinting at an action saga, the film features Prabhas as a character called Salaar. “An Action Saga #SALAAR. THE MOST VIOLENT MEN. CALLED ONE MAN. THE MOST VIOLENT! For the love of cinema, breaking the fence of languages, presenting to you an Indian Film. Dearest welcome to darling #Prabhas sir (sic),” Prashanth wrote.

However, this tweet has not gone well with Kannada fans as some trolls in Kannada say that Prashant Neel and Vijaykiragandur are backstabbers who chose Kannada to rise to the occasion and then jumped to the Telugu industry.

Fans in the Kannada industry were expecting the makers to choose either Yash, Sudeep, Puneeth Rajkumar or Upendra, however, the makers believe that only Prabhas could fit in Salaar.

Despite all this Twitter war between Kannada fans and other language segments, the tweet from the Hombale banner featuring Prabhas is going viral with over 5k plus retweets, thousands of comments and over 22k likes and still counting in less than 24 hours.
