Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film has Radhika Apte essaying the female lead. Music score is by Santhosh Narayanan. The teaser of the film is expected to release towards the end of April, and the audio and trailer launch is scheduled for May. Rajinikanth who was recently conferred the Padma Vibhushan has started dubbing for the film too.

But here's some interesting piece of news for the superstar's fans. Kabali will be released in over 300+ screens in Indonesia which be the largest opening for a Tamil movie ever. Kabali happens to be Rajinikanth's 159th film and important portions of the film have been canned in Malayasia. The 'Thalaivar' has a great fan following in Malaysia. The film will be distributed by Malik Streams who have recently distributed the 'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay starrer, Theri

But there's a catch here too. Kabali is being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu whose recent release Theri ran into release issues owing to theatre owners and exhibitors refusing to give a minimum guarantee. But the Producers Council in a series of meetings have decided to show a non-cooperation to all theatre owners and exhibitors who refused to screen Theri. Upcoming movies of Suriya like 24, Singam 3 and Rajinikanth's Kabali won't be screened in Chengalpet, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur. The Producers Council will only support 11 listed out theatres from these areas. This was announced by Thanu and T Siva from the Tamil Nadu Producers Council.
