Film producer-director B. Ashok Kumar committed suicide in his residence in Alwarthirunagar near Valasaravakkam on November 21. His suicide note also states that he regrets the association he has had with this financier for seven years who charged him high rates. Also, for the past six months, the financier concerned had been harassing him and threatening as well. He even went on talk about his political clout to scare him.

The body has been sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem. A senior officer of the Chennai city police said a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC has been registered against the financier.

Ashok Kumar has co-produced films of Sasikumar including Eesan, Poraali and the yet-to-be-released Kodi Veeran.
