Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been booked for domestic violence by sister-in-law Akanksha Sharma, who was a contestant on last year’s Bigg Boss show.

Akanksha has filed a domestic violence case against her in-laws including Yuvraj, mother-in-law Shabnam and husband Zorawar. The court has given time till October 21 for the cricketer’s family to file a response.

According to a report published on a popular website Spotboye, Akanksha has refused to speak as of now and will speak on the matter after the hearing on October 21, but her lawyer Swati Singh Malik has affirmed the development, according to the report.

Speaking on the issue, Swati said, “Yes, Akanksha has filed a case of domestic violence against Yuvraj, Zoravar and their mother Shabnam."

The report also suggested Akanksha's mother-in-law Shabnam had recently filed a complaint against Akanksha for recovery. "This recovery could possibly be of some jewellery, it's not of money," Swati said.

Explaining Yuvraj Singh’s involvement in the alleged ‘domestic violence, Swati said that the cricketer was a mute spectator in the crime.

She said, “Look, domestic violence does not mean just physical violence. It also means mental and financial torture, which can be attributed to Yuvraj. He (Yuvraj) was a mute spectator to the suffering caused to my client by Zoravar and his mother.”

Malik further revealed, “When Yuvraj and Zoravar’s mother was pressurising Akanksha to have a baby, Yuvraj too had joined in to do the same. He too told Akanksha ‘to have a baby’. He was hand-in-glove with his mother. Yuvraj would even tell Akanksha that she should obey his mother because she was the most superior person in the house."

She added, “Really, that lady is extremely dominant. Zoravar and Akanksha were at her mercy for every decision."

“Yuvraj even told Akanksha that if she does not toe the line then she has no place in that house,” Malik concluded.

The domestic violence complaint by Akanksha has been filed in Gurugram.

Yuvraj's younger brother Zorawar had married Akanksha in 2014. During her stint on reality TV show Bigg Boss, she'd revealed that she'd walked out of the marriage after just four months, hinting at harassment by her in-laws. The estranged couple had filed for divorce last year.
