BAFTA 2021: Adarsh Gourav for White Tiger gets a nomination; Priyanka Chopra can't be more proud
Adarsh Gourav received a nomination in BAFTA 2021 for his outstanding performance in White Tiger, while Ramin Bahrani also got nominated for adapted screenplay.
The list of the nominees for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA 2021) came in, and Adarsh Gourav got a nomination for the Lead Actor Category for White Tiger and Ramin for the adapted screenplay. Being a cast member and executive producer of the film, Priyanka Chopra can't keep her excitement.
White Tiger's story revolves around the boy Balram and how his life's story unfurls, and Adarsh played the boy Balram's character. Other than Adarsh, the film also stars Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra and others.
Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram account to share her joy. She wrote, "What a proud moment for Indian talent with 2 BAFTA nominations for an ALL INDIAN STAR CAST!! Ecstatic for you @gouravadarsh, you are so deserving of this recognition, and congratulations #RaminBahrani, so well deserved. I feel extremely proud to have been an executive producer on this movie! Let's get it!!"
On talking about getting a BAFTA nomination, Adarsh told SpotboyE, "I am dazed! I was in the gym. In the morning I heard that I may be nominated. I didn't think about it the whole day. I was busy doing other things. Now when I finish working out, I find messages from Pooja Asher(dialect coach for The White Tiger) and my father. He was watching it live on television. His joy on the phone was infectious. The impact(of being nominated) has begun to hit me now. It will take time,"
Other than Adarsh for White Tiger, Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Anthony Hopkins for The Father, Tahar Rahim for The Mauritanian and Mads Mikkelsen for Another Round are nominated for the BAFTA 2021's Lead Actor's Category award.
