Anurag taking money from AAP to defame Punjab: Nihalani

Ā

In a statement that is surely going to raise many eyebrows, the CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has accused director Anurag Kashyap of taking money from AAP to show Punjab in a bad light. The charges came after Anurag approached the High Court against the censor board's diktat, which demanded 89 cuts from Anurag's latest film 'Udta Punjab' along with the removal of all references to 'Punjab'.Ā

Nihalani has also charged Anurag of filing his case for publicity.Ā

In another twist to the raging controversy, the AAP has said that Pahlaj Nihalani has been working under the direction of the central government and his allegations prove that. AAP has also stressed that they are not going to take this lightly and are planning to hold a press meet.Ā

Nihalani has sought to clarify the events of the past week, which saw the censor board's demands on 'Udta Punjab' turn into a national controversy. Nihalani claimed that the 'Udta Punjab' team sent their application on Wednesday, the film was watched on Thursday and Friday and the makers of the movie were informed about the cuts on Monday. The team then clarified their issues with the Censor Board and agreed to make the changes.

With regards to the missing film certificate, Nihalani stated said that the board had the letter ready, and Anurag did not turn up to collect the certificate.
