A love scene featuring Adil Hussain and Radhika Apte from the film Parched was leaked online last week, and the clip has gone immensely viral. The culprits are yet to be identified, and the filmmakers have approached the police's cyber cell.

Reacting to the leak, The English Vinglish actor expressed his disappointment over the entire episode. He raised some serious questions on the mindset behind the leak, which honestly makes a lot of sense.

In an interview with the Indian Express, Hussain said, “I learnt about it yesterday from a Google alert, and it felt bizarre in the beginning. In fact, it felt very weird. It shows how sexually obsessed a lot of people in our society are. You leak only the sex scene and no other beautiful scenes from the film. It only shows that we are extremely obsessed with sex, and yet we don’t want to talk about it. We shun it, shove it under the carpet and don’t want to show it to people.”

He also pointed out how the video has been titled ‘Radhika Apte sex scene’ instead of ‘Adil Hussain sex scene’. Hussain said this highlighted the patriarchal mindset prevailing in Indian society.

"That’s because a man doing it is just another matter whereas when a woman does it, it does matter. It is only then when it becomes a sex scene. It also shows the patriarchal society that we live in. In the West, such scenes are usually shown in their films.” Adil said.

Parched is about four women: a wife, a mother, a daughter and a prostitute, living in remote parts of Rajasthan. They decide to leave their respective homes and reclaim their lives. The movie is set in an Indian village and deals with female sexuality thriving in a repressed world of gender inequities.

Parched is produced by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, and is directed by Leena Yadav. The movie stars Surveen Chawla, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Lehar Khan and Riddhi Sen. Parched was premiered at the 2015 International Toronto Film Festival. The film also received accolades at the recently concluded IFF in Melbourne.

The movie is set to release in the US on September 17.
