Bengali actress-turned-MP Nusrat Jahan, who was admitted to the ICU of Apollo Gleneagles hospital, was discharged on Monday (November 19) evening.

The Trinamool Congress MP was taken to hospital following respiratory distress on Sunday night at around 9.30 pm.

"Jahan was admitted to Apollo Hospital in West Bengal's Kolkata on Sunday night due to a respiratory issue. She has a record of asthma in the past as well," Jahan's office said in a statement.

According to reports, many sources in the police hinted at medicinal overdose, leading to her medical records. On Sunday, Nusrat and her husband Nikhil Jain were celebrating Jain's birthday. The actress had even posted pictures on Instagram.

After Nusrat was admitted to ICU, reports rolled out stating that she had either overdosed on drugs, suffered a drug allergy or had consumed a large number of sleeping pills. However, a source close to the actress said: "We know there are such rumours, and we have already rejected them on behalf of the family."

Who is Nusrat Jahan?
Nusrat Jahan contested the 17th Lok Sabha election from Basirhat constituency in West Bengal, won the seat with a huge margin against BJP candidate Sayantan Basu. She had skipped oath-taking for Lok Sabha members on June 17 and 18 owing to her wedding festivities in Turkey.

Ever since the TMC had announced her candidature, the Bengali actress was subjected to trolling and hatred on social media for having no political experience or credentials to contest polls.
