Banks holidays in September 2021: Banks will remain shut for up to 12 days, Here's the full list

Aside from the six weekly offs, banks in various states will be closed for seven days due to multiple holidays.

With many festivals is occurring in September, banks across India will be closed for up to 13 days, including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. Aside from the six weekly offs, banks in various states will be closed for seven days due to multiple holidays. Because specific bank offs are state-specific festivals and holidays, banks will not be closed on all seven dates listed below. 13 additional bank holidays are stated, but Ganesh Chaturthi is considered one because it coincides with the second Saturday.

Here's the list of Bank holidays & other offs in September 2021: 

  • September 5 – Sunday
  • September 8 – Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva - (Guwahati)
  • September 9 – Teej (Haritalika) – (Gangtok)
  • September 10 - Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Vinayakar Chathurthi/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata – (applicable in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji)
  • September 11 – Second Saturday / Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day) – (in Panaji)
  • September 12 – Sunday
  • September 17 - Karma Puja – (in Ranchi)
  • September 19 – Sunday
  • September 20 – Indrajatra – (in Gangtok)
  • September 21 – Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day – (only applicable in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram)
  • September 25 – Fourth Saturday
  • September 26 – Sunday

For the unaware, the Reserve Bank of India has divided holidays into three categories: holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement, and bank closings.
