Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Wednesday (May 10) indicted in the Toshakhana case. A Toshakhana is a treasure house where gifts that are received as honour from foreign dignitaries are stored.
Khan, 70, had challenged the maintainability of the case but Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar of the sessions court dismissed the pleas and objection regarding the jurisdiction after hearing arguments by the lawyers.

The judge announced to indict the accused, Khan and summoned the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in person on the day of the indictment.
Established in 1974, the Toshakhana is a department under the administrative control of the Cabinet Division and stores precious gifts given to rulers, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and officials by heads of other governments and states and foreign dignitaries.
On Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman was indicted in the Toshakhana case. Khan was present in the District and Sessions Court where judge Humayun Dilawar conducted the hearing.
The case was filed last year by the Election Commission of Pakistan and Khan had skipped several hearings in the past months.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is preparing for another day of unrest that broke out in numerous places following Imran Khan's imprisonment for suspected corruption. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ordered the paramilitary Rangers to arrest the 70-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician on Tuesday after he barged into a courtroom at the Islamabad High Court to attend a corruption case hearing.
The court later ruled that the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chief was legal but the way it was carried out was illegal and decided to proceed against the Islamabad police chief and interior secretary.
