ED summons 2 ex-IPS in Saradha scam case

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned 2 former IPS officers in connection to the Saradha chit fund scam case.
 


The Enforcement Directorate has summoned 2 former IPS officers in connection to the Saradha chit fund scam case. The Ed has summoned West Bengal security adviser Surajit Kar Purkayastha and former IPS Rajat Majumder.

Rajat Majumder was arrested by CBI in Saradha chit fund scam case. He was imprisoned for some time. According to ED sources, Surajit Karpurkayastha has been summoned for questioning at the CGO complex in Bidhannagar on March 25. Rajat has been summoned on March 24.

This is the first time that an organization has summoned Surajit Kar Purkayastha. According to the detectives, Surajit was close to Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen. He could be seen on various occasions with Sudipto. He was then the Commissioner of Police in Kolkata.

It is learned that Rajat Majumder has been summoned to know the information related to Sardha company’s transaction. Rajat was a high-ranking official of Saradha. Detectives want to know what he did there, how much he was paid.

Rajat Majumder was arrested by the CBI in September 2014 in Saradha chit fund case. He was granted bail in February 2015.

Central agencies have become active in investigating other chit funds including Saradha in the run-up to the Assembly elections. Madan Mitra, a Trinamool candidate from Kamarhati, appeared at the CGO complex on Friday for interrogation in connection to the chit fund scam.
