TMC MP Sisir Adhikari on Wednesday (March 17) said that he will join the Bhartiya Janata Party if his son Suvendu Adhikari tells him to do so. He also said that he will be present at Narendra Modi's rally in Kanthi on March 20.

Responding to a question from reporters, the Trinamool MP said it was not clear to him which political party he belonged to. Meanwhile, his son, Suvendu Adhikari said that his father will support the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Suvendu Adhikari said, “Sisir Adhikari will support the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a senior leader of the area.”

BJP MP Locket Chatterjee on Saturday (March 13) visited Sisir Adhikari at his residence, sparking speculations of the veteran leader joining the BJP. Although, Locket Chatterjee termed the meeting as a 'courtesy call.
Presently, Sisir Adhikari has been in a 'strained' relationship with the TMC leadership. His two sons Suvendu Adhikari and Soumendu Adhikari have joined the BJP.
Sishir Adhikari alleged that they were being cheated on the issue of Kanthi seaport. On the same day, Adhikari said that he will seek from the prime minister a deep sea port for the state.
