Following the controversial statement by Mysuru MP Pratap Simha against Mysuru City Police, Deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan said one should not pay much attention to such comments. It appears that the DyCM had no clue that it was his own party member who is alleged to have made a controversial comment against the police.
The Mysuru MP objected to police allowing the Mahishasura festival ahead of Dussehra at the hilltop of Chamundi Hills.
According to Indian mythology, Dussehra is celebrated to mark how Goddess Chamundeshwari (also called as Durga) killed demon Mahishasura.
The demon was slayed by the Goddess, and this gave the city its name - Mysuru.
