BBMP will start redesigning 419 existing public toilets after a report from the Union government has declared Bengaluru (BBMP limits) open defecation-free, setting the civic body on the path of positivity. The BBMP now hopes it can achieve similar positive results in the field of garbage management in 2020.

According to D Randeep, BBMP special commissioner, the civic body has four new designs to upgrade its toilets and will start work on 50 toilets. The BBMP will also ensure that every household in its limits is connected with underground drainage lines.

Recently, the survey, Swachh Survekshan, conducted by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, concluded that the public toilets that were inspected met the required parameters like cleanliness, water supply, ventilation, power supply and security.
