Army's Dhruv helicopter crashes near Pathankot, rescue ops underway

An Indian Army helicopter crashed at the Ranjit Sagar Dam near Pathankot in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to locals, the ill-fated helicopter took off from the 254 Army Aviation Corps base, which houses the Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv.

Army sources said that the weapon system integrated helicopter had taken off from Pathankot and met with the accident during a routine sortie.

Reports noted that the helicopter was carrying out low-level flying sorties at the Ranjit Sagar Dam area.

Search and rescue efforts are underway.
