A 13-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a mentally unstable man in Madavoor, Kozhikode on Friday.

The police have identified the victim as Wayanad native Abdul Majeed, who was an eighth grade student at the CM Centre High School, Madavoor.

The suspect, Shamsudeen - who is believed to be mentally unstable, allegedly attacked the boy near the school at around 11 am on Friday. Reports claim that the man, who entered the school premises during a break between classes, approached and stabbed the boy without any provocation.

Shamsudeen tried to run away after the incident but teachers and local residents nabbed the man and handed him over to the police. The boy was taken to a Kozhikode Medical College Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The body is now at the medical college mortuary.
