There will be no future for our country if we forget Mahatma Gandhi. His thoughts are relevant forever, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He was talking to newspersons after garlanding the photos of Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Shastri at the Vidhana Soudha premises on their birth anniversaries, reports Kannada Prabha.

"For the current political situation, Gandhiji’s thoughts are ideal. Our responsibility is to see that Gandhiji’s dreams are implemented," he said. Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri is the most honest politician the country has seen. If he were alive for some more time he would have brought significant changes in the country’s economic policies, he said. Taking a dig at prime minister Narendra Modi's 'Man Ki Baath', Siddaramaiah said the prime minister was passing time talking Man Ki Baath. "It is evident by the state of current economic status of the country. But Congress party in the State is busy giving 'Kaam Ki baath' governance, he remarked.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister HK Patil announced that the State government is providing the required Rs 10 crore funds for the Gandhi Museum. Speaking on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi organised at Gandhi Bhavan, Patil  inaugurated the World Non-violence Day. He said since Rs 10 crore is a big amount and he would discuss with the Chief Minister and if necessary he would take a delegation to the CM. If everything goes as planned by next year, the foundation will be laid for the Gandhi Museum.
