Presenting 'auto-helicopter' to fly over killer potholes in Bengaluru!

Even as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a 10-day deadline to officials to fix the potholes - after three persons were killed in a week - an auto driver in Bengaluru has launched a unique protest in Bengaluru by turning his autorickshaw into a 'helicopter' to fly over potholes!

There are two fans on either side of the three-wheeler and a note that promises a safe ride in his 'helicopter' from the killer potholes. Meet Narayana, an auto driver from Channasandra in Rajarajeshwari Nagar who has been drawing the government's attention towards the killer potholes in the IT City and increasing number of accidents due to them. The note on the auto says "Bengaluru roads are riddled with potholes. If you want to save yourself from the killer potholes, ride in my auto helicopter," reports Prajavani.

There are over 30,000 potholes on Bengaluru roads and every time Bengalureans are on roads (if there are any) they are risking their lives. But the officials concerned are least bothered about it and are taking their own time to fix the potholes. Worse, time and again, the BBMP officials have been issuing deadlines for themselves to fix the potholes but only on paper.

Recently, Bengaluru in-charge minister KJ George asked BBMP officials to adopt quick fix method to fill up potholes before December. New Mayor Sampath Raj too has been spending nights to oversee the work of pothole filling. But potholes continue to be death traps for Bengalureans.

"If potholes are roads to the government, then why can't my humble auto be a helicopter," asks Narayana mocking at the government's brazen attitude of turning a blind eye to killer potholes on the roads.

In fact, if Bengaluru in-charge minister KJ George could claim that Bengaluru is better equipped than New York to handle floods, Narayana too has every right to call his autorickshaw, a helicopter! Doesn't he?
