Upset over acute water shortage in his village, even to immerse the Ganesha idol, a farmer in Nasalapura in Raibag taluk buried the Ganesha idol, reports Kannada Prabha.
The farmer Shivagowda Patil buried the Ganesha in his field and prayed for rain. He had taken an oath at the time of installation itself that if the rains fail by the time of dispersion, he would bury the idol instead of immersion. The rain gods did not show mercy. Hence, he buried the Ganesha. All tanks, lakes and wells in the district have dried up. Many in the village leave the Ganesha idols on dry tank bed. But Patil buried the idol in his field praying for rain.
