Father Uzhunnalil, captured by ISIS and detained for 18 months in Yemen and released served in Bengaluru also As he was technically qualified he was deputed to serve as principal of various Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) The City Christian community has expressed happiness over Father Tom’s release from ISIS captivity  

Fr Tom Uzhunnalil, who was released by the ISIS after his 18 months of detention, had served in various Christian institutions in the State including Bengaluru, reports Kannada Prabha.

After completing his education in Kerala, he had arrived in Bengaluru in 1993 and served as administrator at Chraistha Jyothi College. As he was technically qualified, he was deputed to serve as principal of various Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), Fr George, chief of Finance Division, Bosco House, informed Kannada Prabha.

From 1993 to 2000, he was the principal at ITI KGF. From 2001 to 2007 he was principal Hassan ITI. From 2008 to 2010 he served as principal at Bhadravathi ITI.  He was instrumental in getting street children to join ITI to ensure a bright future for themselves. He also counselled a large number of students who had given up studies after SSLC to get admitted to ITI for skill-training and also complete their college. He got a large number of youth jobs, too. The City Christian community has expressed happiness over Fr Tom’s release from ISIS captivity.
