The High Court granted conditional bail to Mohammed Nalapad, son of Shanthinagar MLA NA Haris after 116 days of stay in the Central Jail in Bengaluru. Nalapad is accused of assaulting a businessman's son Vidwath at the Farzi Cafe in Bengaluru on February 17.
Senior advocate BV Acharya argued for Nalapad. In these 116 days, he had applied for bail four times but was rejected.
The High Court has asked Nalapad to submit a bond of Rs 2 lakh and surety by two persons. HC has warned Nalapad not to destroy and tamper with the witnesses and documents. Nalapad has to surrender his passport before the court.
Accordingly, Nalapad cannot leave Bengaluru without the court's permission.
In the Vidwath assault case, Nalapad surrendered before the Cubbon Park Police on February 19. He was remanded to judicial custody and shifted to Central Jail on February 21.
Earlier, Special Prosecutor Shyam Prasad argued for Vidwath and had put forth that bail to Nalapad might result in tampering or destroying of the witnesses.
