Shocking findings from the post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports have shed new light on the death of six-year-old Vennella, confirming that the case was a murder and not an accidental or unnatural death.
Vennella died on March 24 under circumstances that initially led police to register an unnatural death case. However, the post-mortem and FSL reports established clear evidence of homicide, prompting investigators to reclassify the case as murder. Following the findings, police arrested Mohan, the boyfriend of Vennella's mother Priyanka, along with Priyanka herself.
The case has also raised questions about the handling of the investigation. Although the post-mortem findings reportedly pointed toward foul play, police waited for the FSL report before filing a murder case. Allegations of negligence and delayed action have since emerged, leading to the suspension of three police personnel, including then-Inspector Rangaswamy.

According to the investigation, Vennella was reportedly crying for ice cream when Mohan allegedly assaulted her. Police claim he struck the child forcefully in the abdomen with his elbow and later covered her nose and mouth, causing suffocation. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The forensic examination revealed multiple injuries and abrasion marks on Vennella's face. Investigators also noted blood-mixed fluid coming from her nose and mouth. Her fingertips and nails had turned blue, a sign commonly associated with oxygen deprivation.
Doctors identified two primary causes of death: asphyxia caused by obstruction of the airway and severe abdominal trauma resulting from a powerful blow. The report further revealed the presence of nearly 400 ml of blood and blood clots inside the abdominal cavity, indicating significant internal injuries. Toxicology findings ruled out poisoning as a cause of death.
Commenting on the case, City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said, "The murder of the girl Vennella, which happened in the Kadugodi police station limits, is a very sensitive case. An ACP from a different division is now leading the investigation. We will have more information once their report is submitted."
The case continues to draw public attention as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the child's death and the alleged lapses in the initial probe.
