It's mango season, and who doesn't love them! But the biggest problem is that they spoil so quickly. If you don't store them the right way, they'll be ruined in no time. Here are some easy tips to keep your mangoes fresh and delicious.
Many people choose fully ripe, soft mangoes. But it's always better to buy semi-ripe or slightly firm ones. Just make sure they are not damaged.

What to keep in mind while storing
Mangoes naturally release a gas called ethylene, which helps fruits ripen faster. Because of this, you should never keep fully ripe mangoes and raw mangoes together.
Mangoes need good air circulation. Take them out of the plastic cover as soon as you get them from the shop. Keeping them in plastic traps heat, makes the mangoes 'sweat', and helps bacteria grow, causing them to rot fast.
You should not wash mangoes before storing them. Any moisture left on the skin can cause mould to grow. This dampness will make the mangoes spoil very quickly.
Never put raw or not-fully-ripe mangoes in the fridge. Let them ripen completely at room temperature first. Only after they are fully ripe should you put them in the fridge.
