Which districts are on heavy rain alert?
A cyclonic circulation first formed on Wednesday afternoon over Bangladesh, Gangetic West Bengal, and the nearby North Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to turn into a low-pressure area on Thursday. Because of this, the weather in South Bengal is changing from Wednesday. The Met office has issued a heavy rain alert for South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur from Wednesday to Friday.

When will the rain ease up in South Bengal?
The Met office has issued a warning for all other South Bengal districts for moderate rain with thunderstorms and a few heavy spells. Gusty winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h will also be there. Districts like North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Howrah, and Kolkata will get more rain. The rainfall might reduce from Saturday afternoon.
For now, there is no heavy rain warning for North Bengal. Light to moderate scattered showers with thunderstorms will continue off and on. The rain will pick up from Friday in North Bengal. A heavy rain alert is in place for Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts on Friday. On Saturday, the rain will get heavier and more widespread, especially in the five upper districts: Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri.
