Meanwhile, the monsoon trough has moved into the low-pressure zone over Madhya Pradesh. From there, it will travel southeast over Digha, passing through Daltonganj. This 'double whammy' is why South Bengal can expect rain today.

Weather Office
The weather office has predicted moderate to heavy rain for Wednesday in Kolkata and many other South Bengal districts. You can expect moderate showers in places like Kolkata, Howrah, Bankura, Paschim Medinipur, and Jhargram.
A yellow alert is now active for three districts. Besides the rain, several parts of South Bengal might also experience gusty winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h. This wet spell is expected to last until next Friday.

North Bengal is also in for a wet week. The weather office has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain in Malda, North Dinajpur, and South Dinajpur. On top of that, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts could see heavy rainfall.
