Chennai, Chengalpattu Among Districts Likely To Receive Rain

A weak low-level atmospheric trough is currently prevailing along the coastal parts of Tamil Nadu. Under its influence, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Chengalpattu, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Ranipet on Monday.

Several other districts, including Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Salem, Madurai and Tirupattur, may also receive moderate rain at isolated locations. Puducherry is likely to experience similar weather, with strong winds accompanying the showers in some places.

Heavy Rain Possible In Western Ghats

The weather department has warned of isolated heavy rain in the hilly areas of Coimbatore district and in the Nilgiris.

Thunderstorms are likely in these areas on both Monday and Tuesday. Residents in the Western Ghats districts should remain alert to sudden changes in weather, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Strong Winds Expected Along Coastal Areas

Temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to remain close to normal until August 27.

Meanwhile, strong winds are likely to affect the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining parts of the Kumari Sea over the next four days. Wind speeds could reach up to 65 kmph, according to the weather department.

With rainfall expected across several districts, residents in coastal and hilly areas should keep track of the latest weather updates.
